Originated from the Wuyi Mountains region of Fujian during the Qing dynasty. Lapsang Souchoung means 'Standing Mountain Small Strain'. A black tea that is smoke-dried over a pinewood fire.

 

In the British culture, lapsang souchong has been popularly associated with Winston Churchill who enjoyed the tea.

 

Taste and smell: wood smoke, pine resin, smoked paprika, and dried longan.
